Writing Goals #2-Create a Space to Write
Much of my writing is done in the library or coffee house. My writing tools are portable. (Please check out my post Successful Writing Tip#7: Top 3 Writing Tools) I have a writing bag that contains my laptop, pens, pads, beverage, snacks and ear plugs in my bag. It is always ready to go.
Organization is hard for me and doesn’t come naturally. I must work at it. The benefits of organization is that I am always ready to write. I don’t have to spend time gathering my materials together. I live in small space making it so easy to have things all over. When I had my own apartment I had a designated space to write. I owned that space. I had a comfortable chair to sit in. I posted inspiring pictures up to motivate me. I loved my space.
Moving back home has forced me to b creative. When my old laptop finally died, it was a Mac from 2007, I went for a nw sleeker model. I got a colorful keyboard cover and new protective case. These new Macs are so slim that I purchased a padded bag for extra protection. This bag has various pockets where I can store pens, small notebook, a small snack and the charger.
Using the new MacBook Air did take getting some use to. It was so small and light that I was afraid to tap on the delicate keys but I found my rhythm. Another things that I can’t do without is my earphone. My creative space changes so much that I find the need to block out sound. Talking music, and outside noise can be a big distraction. I use the headphones to play music.
One day soon I hope to have a writing space in my home until that time my portable writing bag with my writing supplies will have to do.
