Review of Then The Unexpected Happened by Katrina McCain ✊🏿
Katrina McCain is on fire. Her first book of poetry, Because I Decided to Love came out in 2019 to rave reviews and her next poetry book Then The Unexpected Happened released December 2021 is equally poignant. This book is split into several sections; Love Without Limits, Heartbroken, Socially Conscious, and Inspired by God, and in each category Katrina shares poems from her heart dealing with some aspects of love. She is transparent in her feelings and holds nothing back as she shares her rollercoaster through love and all it entails. She gives readers an added treat with a short shorty she wrote titled, Fragile Love With Glass Affections. (Click the title to hear the story on Youtube.com)
Last year Katrina and I did a podcast titled, Would You Date Across Party Lines? that had the comments flowing. One of her gifts as a writer is that she is instantly able to connect with audiences. Her soft, Southern voice, (she hails from North Carolina), draws in listeners and she has a Facebook page of more than 4000 followers.

She annually raises money for the American Cancer Society from her Relay for Life “Team McCain” group to help others in their fight against cancer.
