Black Faces in High Places by Dr. Pinkett and Dr. Robinson

Who wouldn’t want to be successful in their field? Black Faces in High Places: 10 Strategic Actions for Black Professsionals to Reach the Top and Stay There by Dr. Randal Pinkett and Dr. Jeffrey Robinson decodes the secrets of how to get to the top and stay there.

This book contains insights from Oprah Winfrey, Senator Cory Booker, radio station owner Cathy Hughes, President Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, and Bob Johnson among others.

Both Dr.Pinkett and Dr. Robinson are living, breathing, testimonies of making it to the top of their fields and staying there. Robinson is a leading faculty member at the Rutger Business School and an international speaker that has been featured on numerous national television programs. Dr. Pinkett is the CEO and Chairman of BCT Partners in Newark, NJ. BCT Partners is on the the BE 100’s, (Black Enterprise list of the top 100 Black-owned companies) and the Inc. 5000 of America’s fastest growing privately-held companies in 2021.

Even though this book is a guide it is a fast read. The tips are peppered with anecdotes and examples. The two tips that were most important to me were how to grow and nurture your network and thinking like an entrepreneur. Almost all the people who reached the top did you by leveraging their network. V.O.I.C.E. (Vision. Opportunity. Innopvation. Capital. Entreprenneurial.) was the the acronym they coined for entrepreneurs and how they should be viewing things.

Finding the right people to collaborate with is also important as Dr. Robinson and Dr. Pinkett illutrate. They have previously written another book together on business tools, Black Faces in White Places: 10 Game-Changing Strategies To Achieve Success and Find Greatness. Both books are available for purchse on Amazon. The two met in college as engineering students where they became friends and business partners. Robinson is one of the founders of BCT Partners that Dr. Pinkett runs with another college friend Lawrence Hibbert. You can find Dr. Robinson on his website at jeffreyarobinsonphd.com or social media @jeffreyarobinson. Dr. Pinektt can be found at his webste www.randalpinkett.com or social media @randalpinkett. #BFHPbook
