What the World Needs Now Is Love
As clichèd as it sounds we all need more love. The romantic type of love permeates our music, movies and books however there are many types of love. The love of friendship is the building block of romantic relationships and friendships. During the month of February, I will explore different aspects of love and friendship.
God’s Thoughts on Love (Matthew 22:35-39)
A follower of Jesus asked “What is the greatest Commandment?” Jesus answered, “To Love God with all your heart and then love your neighbor as yourself.” The act of love is at the core of my faith.
Sometimes it is hard to show love as people and situations can be so unlovable. We are commanded to love anyway.
It seems like every day I am seeing on the news that somebody is being shot. Mass murders are not an anomaly anymore, they seem to be the norm. In my novel What Goes Around Comes Around I write about a shooting that takes place at my heroine’s Nikki Gonzalez job. I wrote this book 13 years ago. The violence and terror that Nikki faces when one of her co-workers starts shooting changes her attitude toward life.
What will it take to change our attitudes so that we on the most basic level can make changes? We have so much technology in our lives. I can’t imagine living without my smart phone, smart television, smart car, etc. Yet with all that we have, we have lost touch. Are we showing kindness to each other?
The Love Chapter (1Corinthians 13)
This famous chapters of the Bible goes into details the importance and definition of love. This perfect love is hard to achieve and is absent in the world. We as God’s people should try to show love to our fellow people. It is only through love that we can eliminate hate.
Please join me over the next month as I explore the different types of love and friendship.
