We Are Stronger-Movie Spotlight

Looking at the statistics on the television surrounding the COVID-19 virus that is making people sick with some of them dying was starting to get to me. I wanted to watch something that would give me hope and I found that when I watched We Are Stronger: Healing For the Broken, Victory for the Wounded which is a very inspirational movie. I watched the entire film on Youtube at midnight and it was so good that even though I was tired it kept my attention. Please click We Are Stronger to see a great inspirational movie.

This movie was brought to the screen Reflective Media Productions, Reflective Life Ministries and Spirit of Texas Bank. (Please click the picture to view the movie trailer.)

This movie centers around Vic, played by Ulises Larramendi, who is an injured veteran who can’t walk and is suffering from PSTD but won’t admit it. His wife Michelle, played by Angela Sweet, is at wits end and is contemplating an affair. She tries everything she can think of to help her husband while he berates her, keeps her up with nightmares and won’t commit to therapy. A chance meeting with two preteens Carson, played by Carson Whittaker, and Mia, played by Rachel Francis, changes his perspective.

Vic reminds Carson of his grandfather who was a Vietnam veteran. When Vic sees himself through Carson’s eyes he realizes that his gift of service is appreciated. Carson idolizes Vic, he doesn’t see him as a failure. Without being asked Carson and Mia visit Vic and Carson ministers to Vic about God’s goodness.

This movie reminded me that simple acts of kindness can have such a profound impact on people. Some people hide their pain and Vic is trying to do so by lashing out on his wife. It is through the teens that Michelle meets Mia’s Aunt Hazel, played by Justina Page, who shares her story of overcoming to encourage Michelle. Hazel is a burn survivor. The fire that scarred her body also took the life of her child.

Hazel is the wakeup call Vic and Michelle need to move forward. I found myself cheering them on at the end and wiping away happy tears when Vic gives his testimony. I would recommend We Are Stronger to anyone who needs to feel uplifted. And with everything that is going go, who doesn’t need to be encouraged?

This film has won numerous awards including the 2018 International Christian Film and Music Festival, 2018 Christian Film Festival, and the 2018 Colorado International Festival. It also was an official selection for Churches Making Movies, Great Lake Christian Festival, and the Indie Gathering Internation Film Festival.

I really enjoyed this family-friendly movie. Feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comments section.
